Alon-Lee Green is the National co-Director of Standing Together, a member of its elected leadership, and a Jewish citizen of Israel. A life-long activist, Green began agitating for social change as the teenage founder of Israel’s first National Waiters’ Union. He was also a prominent leader in Israel’s 2011 “Social Protest” movement campaigning against economic inequality and a key advisor to long-time progressive Knesset [Parliament] member Dov Khenin. In 2015, he co-founded “Standing Together” and has since led the movement through numerous campaigns against war and occupation, and for peace, equality, and social justice. Alongside Daood, he was recently featured as one of TIME magazine's 100 emerging global leaders of 2024.
Rula Daood is the National co-Director of Standing Together, a member of its elected leadership, and a Palestinian citizen of Israel. Born and raised in the Galilee village of Kfar Yasif, Rula began her professional life as a speech pathologist before becoming a committed political activist, organizing around Jewish-Arab partnership in Israel’s mixed cities. Since joining Standing Together in the late 2010s, Daood’s political and administrative expertise has played a critical role in the movement’s dramatic growth and success. Alongside Green, she was recently featured as one of TIME magazine's 100 emerging global leaders of 2024.
Standing Together is the largest grassroots progressive movement organizing Jewish and Palestinian citizens of Israel against war and occupation, and for a future of peace, equality, and social justice. Over the past year, they've risen to the forefront of the struggle for an end to the war and hostage deal within Israel -- bringing thousands onto the streets, organizing a "humanitarian guard" to protect aid en-route to Gaza, and most recently, gathering four hundred trucks worth of humanitarian donations from Palestinian communities within Israel. Standing Together national co-directors, Alon-Lee Green and Rula Daood, are excited to tell their movement's story and update New Yorkers on how they can stand in solidarity with their transformative mission.
