Sensory Sensitive Purim RSVP 3/24/24

We're looking forward to seeing you at our Purim celebration on Sunday March 24th at 9:30am! This event is specifically designed for children with special needs, disabilities, and sensory sensitivities. Some accommodations in this space will be:

- Alternative, low lighting (no fluorescent overhead lighting)
- No amplified sound
- All activities will be held in the Rotunda
- Weighted lap pads
- Noise reduction headphones
- Fidgets
- Quiet space away from activities

Please see below for a brief description of the event and the amount of time for each activity:

9:30-9:40am - Welcome (gathering in the space to welcome everyone)
9:40-10:20am - Differentiated Purim Activities

• Costumes and Photo Booth - kids can put on costumes as their favorite Purim characters and take photos.
• Purim Spiel Videos - a playlist of our favorite YouTube Purim videos for self-directed watching of Purim spiels with adjustable volume and low lighting
• Puppet Making and Purim Stories - select Purim books from our Yachad library to read as a family and make canvas puppets
• Smell/Taste Hamantaschen - taste and smell the fillings that go inside hamantaschen and then match them to the fruits that they come from
• Purim Art - create Purim art with dot markers, paint, and sticky gems
• Groggers - for people who like a little noise on Purim, make groggers with beads, and paper plates
• Teen Room - a space specifically for teens to chat and make Purim origami

10:20-10:30am - Transition time for families who wish to attend the Purim Parade
10:30am - Sensory sensitive programming ends
