The Amen Effect Study Group
Tuesdays at 8:00-9:00 PM over Zoom
March 18, March 25, April 1, April 8
Led by Rabbinic Intern Evan Traylor & CBE Ritual Committee Member Adam Greene

In her book The Amen Effect, Rabbi Sharon Brous, Founder & Senior Rabbi of Ikar in Los Angeles, describes that saying “amen” to another person is a “verbal affirmation, a kind of sacred witness: "Yes!" we're saying. "I'm with you." In a world filled with many challenges, both personal and societal, how can we better show up for others in our lives? How can we forge real connections in an age of isolation and division? How does Jewish tradition help us understand our role in the healing of the world? We’ll explore those questions and more in this study group. Whether you're feeling the strain of current events or seeking to strengthen our community's bonds, this discussion is for you. No platitudes—just practical wisdom for navigating tough times together.

Through four online sessions, we will read and study the wisdom of The Amen Effect. Below is the reading schedule for the study group. Attendance at all sessions is not required for participation, although encouraged. The Amen Effect is available online or anywhere you buy books.

Zoom link will be provided upon registration.

Session #1 (March 18): Introduction & Chapter 1

Session #2 (March 25: Chapters 2, 3, & 4

Session #3 (April 1): Chapters 5, 6, & 7

Session #4 (April 8): Chapter 8 & Epilogue

Join us. Listen. Speak up. Make a difference. This is how we say "amen" to each other and to a better future.
