Hope for Our Future Award Banquet
Friday, May 2 at 8:00 PM
CBE Ballroom, 274 Garfield Place, Brooklyn
Suggested donation: $100, with all proceeds going to Rabbis for Human Rights

Hope for Our Future is CBE’s way of marking Yom Ha’atzmaut, Israel Independence Day. Each year at this event, we honor one person or organization in Israel that is working for shared society, justice, and peace between Israelis and Palestinians.

This year, we’ll honor Rabbis for Human Rights. Founded in 1988, and inspired by the moral teachings of our tradition, Rabbis for Human Rights mobilizes Jewish leaders in Israel to protect Palestinians under attack by settlers in the West Bank; provide humanitarian aid to communities in need; support African asylum seekers; and promote interfaith dialogue.
Even in the midst of the tragedy of October 7, Rabbis for Human Rights has been steadfast in its work and has been fighting to bring the hostages home, protect innocent Palestinians, and end the war. They are showing us what a hopeful future could look like –– a future where all people in Israel and Palestine are able to live side-by-side in dignity, justice, and peace. You can read more about the organization here.

Following Kabbalat Shabbat services, we’ll host a dinner and award ceremony to recognize Rabbis for Human Rights’ work and hear from two of its leaders: Current Board Chair Rabbi Ruti Baidatz and Former Board Chair Rabbi Michael Marmur. They’ll speak with us about the current situation in Israel, Gaza, and the West Bank, and then receive our Hope for Our Future Award as well as a financial contribution to Rabbis for Human Rights.

I would like to make an additional 100% tax-deductible contribution to support Rabbis for Human Rights.

I am unable to attend, but would like to make a 100% tax-deductible contribution to support the event.
