We're looking forward to seeing you at our Hanukkah celebration, A Playground of Light, on Sunday December 15th at 3pm! This event is specifically designed for children with special needs, disabilities, and sensory sensitivities. Some accommodations in this space will be:
• Alternative, low lighting (no fluorescent overhead lighting)
• No amplified sound
• All activities will be held on the first floor, elevator accessible
• No stairs into the building
• Weighted lap pads
• Noise reduction headphones
This program, which will run simultaneously to the CBE Hanukkah Sing-a-Long in the Sanctuary, is designed for families and children to drop-in at any point between 3 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. - stay for as long or as short as you'd like. Please see below for a brief description of the stations kids will be able to choose from.
1. Shadow Puppet Station - kids can make their own shadow puppets or learn how to make Hanukkah shadow puppets with their hands
2. Lite Brite Station - kids design hanukkiahs on Lite Brites
3. Tap Light Hanukkiah - kids can come touch/tap lights on a giant wall hanukkiah
4. Light Building Station - kids connect hexagonal lights at a table
5. Hanukkah Card Making - kids can design their own Hanukkah cards for friends and family
Here are a couple specific times that we want to make sure you're aware of:
• 3 p.m. | Start
• 4:30 p.m. | In our Sensory Sensitive space, we will recite the Hanukkah blessings and kids will receive glow sticks
• 4:40 p.m. | Transition time for who want to attend CBE's larger candle lighting on the Sanctuary steps.
• 4:45 p.m. | End
